Ruth Story
Ruth Story
Quote of the day, “You are what you believe yourself to be.” I believe therapy is part of a journey to embrace our authentic selves, no matter our back story. Problems that we struggle with do not form our whole identity and are usually adaptations that were originally protective strategies. My mission is to assist you with healing and personal growth. During these challenging times, telehealth can help you get the help you need, quickly and efficiently. My approach combines many different modalities that help clients heal from uncomfortable symptoms caused by anxiety, depression, and ptsd, and/or problems caused by addiction.
I have completed my Somatic Experiencing training and find this to be a very useful modality to work with all types of trauma by integrating the nervous system into the healing process. I work to promote healing from traumatic life situations. My emphasis is on healing from, as opposed to coping with, symptoms arising from mental health problems.
Prior to counseling, I earned my elementary education degree and I worked for 10 years in the schools in various roles including special education and as a counselor in a CSCT program. I am an avid mountain bike rider. I love the outdoors, family, music and the arts.
